          Higher Education Department Library is located at the 2nd floor of St. Bonaventure bldg. which exists primarily to serve the needs of the faculty, students and staff of the higher education department.

          It provides collection of print and non-print materials to access relevant information and knowledge to stimulate growth and literary appreciation.

LIBRARY VISION, MISSION & OBJECTIVES

VISION

The Library of Maryhill College envisions a media center that provides equal opportunity and access to appropriate resources and services through the use of information technology for all members of the school and other library users.

 

MISSION

The Library of Maryhill College, as guided by Catholic teaching, is committed to provide excellent resources and services to support the Vision and Mission of the school. To fulfil this mission, the Library will:

  1. Provide access to relevant and quality media collections of recorded information’s and knowledge, regardless of format necessary for the HED curriculum.

  2. Provide an environment conducive for reading, learning and research.

  3. Develop and maintain a well-trained-staff, knowledgeable and service oriented to guide the users toward lifelong learning.

 

LIBRARY OBJECTIVES

The basic objectives of the HED Library are to support the growth of students towards Christian maturity and to be able to develop themselves as useful citizens of the country. In order to achieve this basic objective, it is the aim of the library to:

 

  1. Provide books and other print and non-print materials in line with      the demands of the curriculum and the needs of students and   teachers and to organize these materials for effective use.

  2. Guide library clientele in their choice of books and other materials   of learning desired for both personal and curriculum purposes.

  3. Develop the students’ skill and resourcefulness in the library and to encourage the habit of personal investigation.

  4. Systematically evaluate the physical facilities and needs to ascertain the best possible arrangement of materials, services and staff for maximum effectiveness in library operations.

  5. Work cooperatively and constructively with instructional administrative staff of the school, in order to meet the growing needs of students.

Monday to Friday:         8:00am to 7:00pm
Saturday:                       8:00am to 5:00pm

Library Services

The Online Public Access Catalog (Opac) Using Infolib

        The Online Catalog provides access to the collection of the Library. Infolib Library Information system in the software designed to provide library and information management solutions for small libraries. This system was created by Mr. Gerry Larroza of Ateneo de Manila University. Through QLA (Quezon Librarian’s Association) now LAQUEPLINC, (Librarians Asso.of Quezon Province and Lucena Inc.) this system was distributed to all libraries in Quezon Province. Maryhill College adopted this library system and It is now easy for the clientele to locate the needed books through a computer search using the Infolib.

 

Readers’ Services

Readers’ services are provided through the Circulation, Reserve, Filipiniana and Periodicals sections.

Circulation -The Circulation area handles the charging out of books for home use and as well as the issuance of borrower’s card and signing of clearances.

Reference - This section holds the general reference materials such as dictionaries, encyclopedias, handbooks, manuals, almanacs, atlases, yearbooks and directories, which are needed for locating specific materials or information. Reference books are for ROOM USE only.

Filipiniana - Books about the Philippines in the different subject fields by Filipino authors here and abroad are made available in this section.

Periodical - Journals, newspapers, newsletters and magazines both current and back issues are found in this section.

 

Referral

When there is a need for a library material that is not available in the library, the researcher is referred to other libraries. Faculty and students of Maryhill College are furnished with a request letter addressed to the librarian of the school where he/she wishes to visit.

The library reciprocates this service by allowing qualified researches from other institutions to use the HED library.
